Dr. Ketan K. Badani is a Professor of Urology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He serves as Vice Chairman of Urology and Robotic Operations for the Mount Sinai Health System, Director of the Comprehensive Kidney Cancer Center and Reconstructive Urology, and Chief of Surgical Innovation and Strategy at Mount Sinai West and Morningside Hospitals.

Based in New York, Dr. Badani is known for combining technical expertise with a patient-centered approach. He graduated at the top of his class from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland. He then completed his urology residency at the internationally recognized Vattikuti Urology Institute at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He also completed a fellowship in minimally invasive urologic oncology at the same institute, where robotic urologic surgery was first performed in the United States.

Dr. Badani is widely recognized as a leader in urologic oncology, with a particular focus on prostate and kidney cancer. He has developed and published innovative techniques in minimally invasive robotic kidney surgery. His partial nephrectomy method, known as the F.A.S.T. (First Assistant Sparing Technique), is taught and practiced around the world to improve outcomes for patients with kidney tumors.

He has performed more than 9,000 robotic procedures, placing him among the most experienced urologists globally. In the New York area, he has the largest combined experience in robotic kidney and prostate cancer surgery. His expertise spans both surgical and non-surgical treatment options for urologic cancers.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Badani is an active educator and international speaker. As a visiting professor, he has delivered lectures and performed live surgeries in more than 20 countries, including Italy, Spain, Brazil, India, Japan, China, and Korea, sharing his techniques with surgeons worldwide.
